Tennis Anyone?

“Tennis Anyone?”@Jack_dankoff17 would say when he was just 4-years-old. The age where he began to pick up the sport of tennis and continues to enjoy, even to this day.

Jack will be 17-years-old next month. He’s a Crescent school student and a huge fan of steaks, sports, and bananas. Loves to hang out with friends, and catch the latest flicks.

Favourite movie? Inglorious Bastards. Favourite book? Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

Thankfully, tennis is rated a low-risk activity, according to @GlobalNewsto. There are just a few players on the court and are at a distance from one another. This means that Jack shouldn’t be the only one asking the famous question: “Tennis anyone?”

Tennis is loaded with health benefits! For starters, tennis is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that increases muscle strength, tone, and flexibility.

Recently, I sent Jack a few questions about tennis and his perspective on life. Here’s what he has to say.

What were you supposed to do this summer?

I was looking forward to being at the tennis staff at @campwinnebagoe. I was upset when camp got canceled, but not surprised. This is my first summer at home in nine years.

Why do you love tennis?

Anyone can be good at it.  I’ve never looked at myself as a very athletic kid, but I still believe I’m a very good tennis player.  Like every sport, the more you practice, the better you get.  However, what makes this soprt stand out is that besides doubles, it isn’t a team sport.  You only need one other person to practice and simulate what an actual match would be like. If you don’t have someone to play with, there is nothing wrong with hitting the ball against the wall.  After all, the wall always hits back.

Favourite and least favourite part about teaching tennis?

I love the feeling of success when your student finally manages to hit a ball properly for the first time.  This can take hours of practice to achieve, and when it finally happens, you know that you’re doing something right.  The least favourite part? I can’t stand the racket (get it?).

Is there any other sport you play?

In terms of other physical activities, I am very much a fan of mixed martial arts.  I practice kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. You can learn all about it here.

When you feel frustrated or anxious about the pandemic, how do you cope?

I try to remind myself that there are worse things in life than staying inside and binging Netflix.
