Since January 2021, Glowfit with Lara is still going strong and there are no signs of slowing down.
It has been almost two years since I’ve written about Lara Brodkin (@glowfit_bylara) and her incredible exercise classes that are held on Zoom. I thought it was time for an update to see how this trailblazing woman and her clients are doing.
Just as I suspected – all is more than well!
Some things haven’t changed. And they shouldn’t because they work so well. The Glowfit classes are set to music that her clients love. Her instruction has remained excellent and there is still that heavenly and oh-so-needed stretching segment along with a 5-minute guided mantra meditation.
Checking off all of the boxes to take care of your body in one hour is the best
feeling.
But what’s going on in Lara’s life since we last spoke? What’s she reading? Learning? And what has changed during these past two years?
And what about a gift for you? Yes… it’s very exciting. We’ll get there. I promise.
It’s been a while… let’s review a little about yourself
My true passion is learning about all things wellness. This began when I was 17 and has never waned. I love to cook healthy meals, especially creating recipes from scratch. Of course, that’s always hit and miss, especially in the dessert department.
When I’m cooking, I love to listen to country music, and going to concerts is the best! John Mayer is one of my favourite musicians who sings from the heart and when I am at one of his concerts, I dance and sing my heart out! Life is too short not to dance, even if it embarrasses my kids!
Wellness is in my soul, and I love to share what I have learned with family, friends, and clients. There is nothing like hearing about the positive changes that surface from what I shared with them.
I am forever grateful to my crew for being such great companions and listeners to my endless stream of wellness inspiration. Presently, I am studying all about the microbiome and digestion. Stay tuned for some new tips!
What are you reading lately?
I feel that wellness not only includes fitness and nutrition but also psychology. I mentioned in your last article that my all-time favourite book is The Choice by Edith Eger.
This summer, I also became intrigued by Michael Singer’s The Untethered Soul. Michael Singer’s teachings are based on recognizing how every current thought and past experience in life are shaping us daily. He shows how the complicated process of our thoughts is getting in the way of allowing us to live with fuller hearts and lighter minds!
How are the Glowfit classes going?
Better than ever!
One early stumbling block was that some of my clients were hesitant to be seen exercising on camera. Some still are and that’s totally fine. Being on Zoom allows you to turn off your camera, so it’s really up to the participant to do what is most comfortable.
Before class, there is an opportunity for everyone to chat and then you can turn your camera off and attend the class “privately”. I love the pre-class chat because it allows me to check in if anyone wants to let me know about any accommodations they need.
It’s been incredible to see how our pre-class conversations on zoom have connected so many of my clients. I love to promote what everyone is doing in the business world as well. We have formed a community.
What are your main goals for your Glowfit Classes?
1. To create strength training classes designed for women’s bodies.
While my classes are attended mostly by women over 40, all ages
seem to enjoy and get a great workout.
2. To strike a balance of motivation and challenge while emitting an aura of warmth and encouragement throughout.
3. To keep educating and reminding my clients about the benefits of strength training. I have received amazing feedback from my clients on how toned and strong they have been feeling.
Finding the motivation to show up to exercise is definitely a struggle. However, consistency will start to evolve with the help of the mood boost, and the increased focus and purpose.
After teaching these past two years, how do you feel?
My life has changed so much since the inception of Glowfit by Lara. I am thrilled that women are leaving my class feeling balanced in both body and mind.
As I say in my classes, we want to acquire a good burn because we know that leads to growth and strength, which also manifests in our everyday lives.
Getting involved in something challenging yet fulfilling is exhilarating during this stage in my life. Growth is possible at any age or stage. I literally wake up with a skip in my step knowing that I am going to motivate my Glowfit ladies and start their days off with great energy.
I attribute much of The Glowfit success to the live format. While there are many available streaming options, booking a class for a particular time and showing up “in class” leads to an element of accountability and ultimate consistency in exercise.
What type of classes are there?
Glowfit with Lara is still going strong with these 3 class formats.
1. Express Motivation Monday – a 40-minute workout that includes strength training with weights and body resistance, and a touch of cardio.
2. Wellness Wednesday Stability Ball – an hour workout that incorporates weights, and cardio and ends with meditation.
3. Fit Friday and Strength Sunday – both include strength training circuits, body resistance, and meditation to end.
4. New for the holidays! On-demand videos are being launched this week!
