David Newton is a Movement-Based Therapist and has worked in the fitness and wellness industry for over three decades. He is a Yoga Teacher, Indoor Cycling Instructor, Personal Trainer, Ironman Triathlete, Human and Equine Reiki Practitioner and is Co-Creator and Facilitator of The Akira Concept Immersive Wellness Solutions . David was a Canadian National Sport Aerobic gold medalist, representing Canada on two separate occasions at the World Aerobic Championships, ranking 9th in the world.
David’s passion, work and philosophies focus on joy factor, graceful aging, gratitude practice and authentic wellness. He truly enjoys sharing his knowledge for all that is connected to successful and healthful living.
Deborah is a dedicated teacher who has taught for over 17 years. In each of the spaces she works in, she brings a commitment to teaching students about mental health and well-being and incorporating social-emotional learning into all areas of her programming. Deborah is also a yoga practitioner who has conducted action research on the uses of yoga and mindfulness strategies in the classroom.
Deborah has merged many of her passions and expertise to train educators and camp staff by creating and writing lesson plans that focus on well-being and character education. Her content is purposefully easy to use and appeals to children in a fun and relevant way. She was a natural fit to working together to create the Brave the Waves Program to teach children how to develop resiliency and empower educators to approach teaching themes that relate to mental health by opening the lines of communication in an honest and constructive way.
