The Best Lessons from Lynda

The best lessons from Lynda Thompson (@lynda.c.thomson) did not sink in so fast for me. It took a while, and with good reason. The first time I heard words leave the lips of this great minister, I was quite shocked. I think my eyebrows remained raised, for her entire session.

But I think that was a good thing.

I quickly learned that when Lynda preaches, nothing stands in her way. The truth comes out, whether you like it or not. For some, that could be harsh. Yes, I am talking about me. For others, it can be a welcome reality pill that needs to be ingested. Still talking about me.

Being the open-minded human that I am, I didn’t give up and continued to learn the best lessons from Lynda on The Wellness Intelligence Collective (@livewithwellnessintelligence) from Borden Communications (@BordenCommunications). Embracing being comfortable being uncomfortable.

Hello, growth.

My favourite piece of advice to date is to thank God for showing me the toxic person in my life, so I can let them go.

Read that again. And take a moment for yourself.

Yeah. I know, right?

The best lessons from Lynda have taught me more than I expected.

Whew – could it get any deeper? Well, yes. You’ve got to read all about Lynda and about the quote which she shared in Get Up!

Who is Lynda Thomson?

A mother, a sister, and a friend. An alcoholic in recovery. A Reiki Master, a minister, a healer, a partner, a conference speaker, and a precious child of God.

What is your day job?

I am an ordained Minister with the Metaphysical Ministries of Canada. I practice across Ontario, ministering to the sick, performing weddings and funerals, and guiding people towards their Higher Purpose! Since obtaining and maintaining sobriety in 1987, I have followed my calling to be of the best service to the world, and what better way than to become a minister! I have been a spiritualist for over 30 years Before this role, I was a mother and Domestic Goddess!

What do your days look like?

I rise early each morning, leash up the dogs, and go for a walk. Quiet time for prayer and meditations start the day off on the right path. I see clients for spiritual therapy and do my best to go through the day with gratitude. Most evenings are spent at A.A. so I can help people achieve what I have achieved.

Please share a meaningful lesson you have learned in your practice.

I have learned the value of listening, really hearing what people have to say. May I always remain the student!

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to dance! I love to sing! Going to Karaoke each week evokes both! I am an avid reader and, of course, helping and listening to people is my favourite pastime!

Share a practice or a trait that no one knows about.

I have no practice or trait that no one knows about! I am pretty much an open book! We are only as sick as our secrets!

Let’s unpack your quote! What would you tell your teenage self?

“Value your body, you’ve only got one… it’s the foundation that you will have for the rest of your life.”

I do stand by my quote! Wish I had thought about that when I was abusing my body in my teen years! But in hindsight, if I hadn’t gone through my addictions and perils, I would not have been as able to help the still suffering as I do today.

💫

Thank you, Lynda, for sharing your wisdom in the book Get Up and for diving a little deeper with me in this interview. The path you have taken that has led you to where you are today may have been a challenging one, but the lessons are priceless, especially for the receiver.

Yes, I’m still talking about me. 😉
