I have come to the conclusion that Reese Witherspoon’s green smoothie is a green smoothie on steroids. You know I love me some smoothies – I’ve posted my favourite one here, and I drink it at least twice a week, for several reasons. It’s portable, takes 5 minutes to make and it’s delicious! However, the icing on the cake is that I get to add two servings of greens thanks to the cup of frozen spinach and you can hardly taste it.
As for Reese Witherspoon’s green smoothie, there is no sneaking in your greens! For the number of greens that are in here, there is nowhere to hide!
I have to admit that I am a huge Reese Witherspoon fan. I mean, come on – don’t you just adore her films like @LegallyBlonde, the series @TheMorningShow, and Little Fires Everywhere @LittleFireshulu? And her @hellosunshine social media platform is terrific, too.
That’s where I found the recipe for the green smoothie. I was scrolling along and came across a virtual Legally Blonde 20th reunion which stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t help myself! I enjoyed it very much if you must know.
Anywhoo, at the corner of my eye, I spot Reese Witherspoon holding a beautiful green smoothie and I just had to find out more. So I clicked and here I am today!
The Taste
“IT TASTES SO GOOD!” was what Reese Witherspoon exclaimed when she sipped her green smoothie.
“It’s OK… pretty good.” Is what I exclaimed when I sipped mine.
I have to be honest here. It does taste very “green.” There is a WHOLE HEAD of lettuce in this smoothie – there is no escaping this lettuce taste. You can also add spinach, celery – anything green that’s in your fridge. Thankfully, the fruit that I add, including the whole lemon does make it go down easier. I think if you like the taste of green smoothies as a whole, you will like it.
The nutrients in this baby are so incredible, it makes me giddy with happiness just thinking about what my body is receiving from this beautiful green smoothie – yes, I’m one of those people who sometimes eat things not because they taste amazing, but because of it’s nutritional value.
And just for fun, I have decided that I am going to drink Reese Witherspoon’s green smoothie every day this week. Yup – that’s 7 straight days! Just because I can and it’s fun to do these types of challenges during a pandemic. 😉 Plus, I’m so curious as to what will happen and how I will feel after drinking Reese Witherspoon’s green smoothie for 7 straight days.
The Recipe
Serves 2
- 2 heads of romaine lettuce – feel free to add anything green in your fridge.
- Apple (I like Granny Smith)
- Pear
- Banana
- 1/2 cup of coconut water
- A whole lemon – take off the grind, and throw in the peel, seeds and all!
Blend in a @vitamix and you can add almond butter or your favourite protein powder. I added @agequencher. The subtle vanilla taste went very well with the ingredients.

Bottom’s up!
Update. One week later:
@allisonleighsolomon, I heard you loud and clear when you wished me luck with this challenge! I didn’t realize that I actially needed it.
Although I always like a health challenge, this green smoothie is not for me. As I sipped smoothie after smoothie each day, it kept getting worse and worse. I give 5 stars to Resse’s acting abilities for convincing me that it “tastes so good” when it really doesn’t.
Although I felt energetic after consuming, and I did have a good amount of energy, I would rather eat a salad and my fruit whole.
