“Bring me the Sukha Sak….”ahhhh!”
This is what you hear when someone in my household has a stomach ache.
I’m not kidding. It’s that good.
First, of foremost, the word Sukha comes from the world of Yoga. It means to be comfy, happy, and relaxed. Makes sense, because that’s what it does.
But, at first, I was skeptical. What is so special about this fancy pillow that everyone is putting on their bellies? What’s it made of? What does it feel like and most of all, does it work?
What’s it made of?
The Sukha Sac @SukhaSac is filled with thousands of tiny flax seeds. Normally, I sprinkle flax seeds on my yogurt. Who would think to stuff them inside of a pillow? @brandee_yoga Brandee Safran did. She is a Yoga Therapist and Certified Health Coach and creator of The Sukha Sac.
Each Sukha Sac has essential oils that promote the art of aromatherapy which carry a physical and emotional healing component.
The pillow is incredibly soft to the touch. They come in a range of beautiful and fun designs in different shapes and sizes. Some are meant for your stomach, while others are ideal for your neck, shoulders, and eye area. There are even ones for babies to help with colic. You can even have one custom made. Take your pick, here.

What does a Sukha Sac Feel like?
The flax seeds offer weight that is distributed evenly throughout the pillow. When you place the Sukha Sac on your stomach, it allows the belly to release its muscle contractions. I love how I can feel my stomach muscles being gently stretched with the perfect amount of pressure. Anywhere that holds tension on your body can get back to a pain-free state.
Take it up a notch and put the Sukha Sac in the microwave or oven (in a Pyrex on a low temperature) to warm it up. Heat allows an inflamed area to promote blood flow and help sore and tight muscles relax.
You can also place it in the freezer and you will have a cool and flexible pillow that won’t freeze. This will help inflamed joint muscles, strains, or tendinitis. Such a smart replacement for a bag of ice, as you should never place ice directly onto a wound as it could lead to frostbite.
The amazing thing about flax seeds is that they promote the maximum retention to heat and cold, so you will for sure receive incredible relief, longer than the conventional hot water bottle or ice pack.
Why was the Sukha Sac Created?
In 1986, after spending a year in the hospital due to Crohn’s disease, Brandee began to meditate, which was her lifesaver. She then started to practice yoga and then began to teach it because of the profound positive and empowering effect it had on her. Several years later, after a bowel attack, she created the Sukah Sak and uses it religiously.
“The Sukha Sac is purely therapeutic like my yoga. They provide comfort to the body and mind.”
Does it work?
Just as I spoke about Reflexology, the Sukah Sac is non-invasive and does not promise to diagnose, treat, or cure. However, it is a wonder that I and everyone I speak to, adore this miraculous pillow because it brings them great relief.
