Struggling with an illness? Perhaps slightly stressed due to COVID. A visit to your family doctor is a must, but also have a look at the practice of Reflexology. Here, you will receive incredible relief from your feet!
Meet Carla Afle-Bienstock. She is a Certified Reflexologist practitioner who helps people of all ages feel better.
The other day I had the pleasure to experience reflexology with Carla where I asked her a few questions about her practice. Did I have a specific reason for this visit? Not really, just a general feeling of anxiousness, due to COVID. That’s all. 😉
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic practice that uses acupressure and massage of the feet. The bottom of the feet is connected to different organs and body systems. Reflexology can also be performed on the hands and ears. Reflexology assists to relieve a list of medical issues and can also make you feel extremely relaxed.
How long does a Reflexology session take?
A typical session usually takes a full hour. If a person is experiencing certain severe issues I recommend a session once a week during the first month of treatment.
The client will be assessed at the end of the month regarding ongoing maintenance.
Who would benefit from Reflexology?
People of all ages who are experiencing any of the following:
- Stress and anxiety.
- Muscle and joint pain.
- Digestive issues.
- Excess fluid retention in the legs.
- Headaches.
In addition, those who suffer from:
- Diabetes
- Parkinson’s
- Arthritis
- Heart disease
- High or low blood pressure
- Thyroid issues
- Pre and postnatal relief.
Let’s not forget babies too, who have colic.
What do essential oils do during Reflexology?
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain their natural essence. The oils are an ancient way to help cope and heal the mind, body, and soul. It is so beneficial and relaxing to inhale the oils or apply them to the skin. (Diluted of course!)
In a Reflexology session, if the client allows, I will apply essential oil to the bottom of the feet and dilute with massage oil to provide complete relaxation.
Why did you choose to practice Reflexology?
I had some digestive issues several years ago and after a few reflexology sessions, it helped tremendously. Reflexology gave me such incredible relief from my feet!
Like any alternative medicine, there is controversy to sufficient evidence for its effectiveness.
The Canadian Association of Reflexology provides a code of ethics and a standard of practice that protects the public and the Practitioner.
The modality is non-invasive and does not promise to diagnose, treat, or cure. However, it is a wonder that all clients feel amazing after each session.
And let me tell, you, I surely agree! I left Carla’s office with a sense of peace. Tranquility and calmness. I hope to visit her again.
Before we sign off, Carla would like to thank the Dynamic Health Clinic @dynamichealthcli for giving her a beautiful and serene space to practice Reflexology.
