You’ve got to try this super yummy dairy-free strawberry smoothie!
Make it for breakfast, or even a snack. Make a double batch and serve it at your next COVID-friendly backyard get together.
It’s loaded with vitamin C, calcium, and iron thanks to the strawberries and spinach. (yes, spinach – don’t be afraid, you won’t taste it!) And, when you add all of those ice cubes, it’s sure to refresh you on a hot day.
Why dairy-free?
There is a lot of controversy about whether or not dairy is beneficial or harmful to your health. On one hand, the calcium that dairy products can provide for you helps keep your bones strong and you are less likely to develop Osteoporosis. On the other hand, dairy products have been known to carry links to diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and cancer. All of these mixed messages can make your head spin.
I’ve shared my perspective on living dairy-free here.
Speak to your healthcare provider and to find out what works best for you. My take? Everything should be enjoyed in moderation and that’s why there are days when I like to go dairy-free. Especially when it involves something yummy like @enjoyyoso in a dairy-free strawberry smoothie! Did you know that they recently came out with a new yogurt alternative called YOATS? You can read all about it here. Talk about a nutritious powerhouse product!
STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup of spinach (frozen works best)
1 cup of @enjoyyoso yogurt alternative in vanilla
1 TBS honey
A handful of ice cubes
Blend and enjoy!
