Riding the TTC? Wear a mask.
Heading to the grocery store? Wear a mask.
Need to go to the doctor? Wear a mask.
Picking up a cup of coffee on the way? Wear a mask and head right in!
Why wear a mask?
The N95 masks are for health care workers who treat patients with the COVID virus. For the rest of us, we can protect ourselves and the people around us by wearing a mask made out of cloth or you can also wear the disposable ones that you can buy at the drugstore. More on that in a moment.
According to @CTVNews and the President of the Royal Society, Venki Ramakrishnan, we need to begin to treat wearing a mask the same way we look at drinking and driving – NEVER – and wearing a seat belt – ALWAYS.
You just follow the rules and do it.
Why?
Does it completely banish all particles from a virus such as COVID-19? Not entirely, according to a study from the University of Pennsylvania and Cambridge. “Cloth face masks reduce oral particle dispersion between 50-100 percent, depending on a number of factors, the researchers wrote. In pre-symptomatic individuals, studies have shown that viral droplets are emitted not only by sneezing and coughing, but also by talking and breathing, meaning mass face coverings would significantly reduce the risk of new infections.”
If you are outside and you are standing more than 6 feet across from the person you are talking to, feel free to take off your mask. Droplets are not capable of traveling that far.
It’s not rocket science. It’s basic science that must be followed.
Still unclear? Here’s a popular meme called #theurinetest to help explain:

If we follow these simple rules, we can continue to do the amazing job that we #Canadians are doing. Check out the latest from @ctvnews here. And this can all end. And we may not have a second wave. Wouldn’t that be just wonderful?
Getting back to the masks…
Why stop at the boring, plastic synthetic materials from the single-use masks? Why not have some fun with all of this mask hoopla? Look the fabulous @queenelizabethiiuk! You too can look as chic as she. I mean, come on!

There’s nothing like supporting companies in your own back yard. Check out this cool Canadian company @canadianfacemasks_. They have a whole slew of beautiful masks that you can wash and in most cases, put them in the dryer, too. Check them out for complete instructions on how to care for them.

And then there’s of course the opportunity to have your mask with your company logo! How could I resist? Thank you, @lehnercustomizations for making this happen.
Want to make this all go away? Yeah – me too! Wash your hands and wear a mask. Two simple steps that will make a HUGE difference!
