A Book Review

Throughout all the topics I have been blogging about, I have yet to post a book review!

@BraveTheWaves – A Program For Building Resiliency, began with the book, Me and My So-Called Friends, so why haven’t I talked about the book before or posted a review?

I don’t really know, but there is not time like the present!

Before I post the most wonderful review that made me smile the entire day – really, it did! Let’s discuss what the book is about.

Editor’s note: I received this review before #COVID19 and I was literally skipping around town after I read it. Strangers kept looking at me funny, probably wondering why I had this giddy look on my face.

What’s it all about?

It’s August and 15-year-old Lizzie has just arrived home from camp. As soon as she gets in touch with her four best friends, she suddenly realizes that her friends are not the friends she used to know. As soon as school begins, her math class begins to give her major stress! This makes her use the ever-present box of tissues that live in her locker – reserved especially for the days when she receives her tests back. One night at a friend’s party, Lizzie hooks up with a guy named Jimmy. Out of nowhere, A rumour is quickly spread. Did they? Didn’t they? How will Lizzie get through math class, trust her friends again and get back on her feet?

Me and My So-Called Friends has been in distribution for several years and one day, a trainer at my gym, @teri.lauren from @embody_fitness_clubs asked me for a copy for a Christmas gift for her daughter, Lauren.

I asked Teri if it would be possible for Lauren to write a review on @amazon. The next day, this message was in my inbox:

The Review

Hi Sharon, my name is Lauren my mom is Teri from Embody. I just finished reading your book Me and My So-Called Friends. It was AMAZING! I loved how realistic and relatable it is. For example, how Lizzie has Mr. Drane (that one nice teacher) or how the first thing she did when she got home from camp was to call her friends. I feel any girl who reads this book will relate to Lizzie about something no matter what. Thank you for writing such a fantastic book and I’m sorry I couldn’t write that amazon review (the account I was logged into wasn’t letting me)

Teri told me that Lauren read the book in two days! There is nothing like being absorbed in a novel that you can’t put down. After your homework is done and you’ve put down your laptop, get cozy with a cup of tea and escape into Lizzie’s world! Get your copy today by clicking on this link.
