It’s the middle of winter and it’s time for some self-care for the middle school parent.
You can’t stop shivering! It’s not only cold, but it’s damp and you can just feel the chill go right through into your bones. Then there’s your job, the grocery lists. DOES IT EVER END? Don’t you just want to jump on the next plane to the Bahamas?
What to do
A tropical vacation sounds really lovely, but for most, it’s not the most realistic thing to do. There is an easier way (and less expensive way) to escape the cold AND do something good for your body and your mental health.
Because, let’s face it, taking care of middle school children is incredibly rewarding and fascinating, but it’s no picnic either. There are days that you just want to throw your hands up in the air. We know. We’ve been there. You deserve some #MeTime. It’s time for some self-care for the middle school parent.
Introducing Oxygen Yoga and Fitness! We are huge fans and frequent visitors, especially during these Canadian winter months. We crave it!
They offer a range of classes such as yoga, barre, and boxing too.
Oxygen stands out from the typical yoga studios because it uses a different type of heat. It doesn’t blast hot air, rather it uses a heating system called Far Infrared Technology, that allows you to breathe comfortably. Plus, they circulate fresh air continuously in the studio.
It’s all about the heat!
The warmth allows you to sweat a little more than your usual studio workout which is wonderful for your skin because it helps to purge debris and dirt which makes your skin glow. Pain in your joints? Sore after a sports activity? Arthritis? Be gone – thanks to the Far Infrared technology.
Then there’s the mental health perk. It just feels fantastic! You can feel the endorphins run through your body which makes you feel alive, accomplished, and just plain happy.
Check out this decadent evening plan that is the ultimate self-care ritual for the middle school parent. We do this as often as we can:
After a day of work, checking up on your children’s homework, and other stuff, we head to @oxygen for a candlelit yoga class. But before we head out the door, all tasks are done for the night. We prep the lunches, sign any forms and check off any “to do” list for the day. We want no distractions once we arrive back home where we walk directly to the shower (a must!) and get right into bed.
The result? Stress from the day has left our minds and we drift off into the deepest sleep.
Although Oxygen Yoga requires all participants to be 16+ years old, they offer 8 non-heated yoga/fitness classes for teens three times a year.
